I'm Sophia, a fire elemental and vampire bounty hunter with crap luck and a crass attitude. My best friend Joey used to call me Softy—ironically of course—but now he's dead and I'm hunting down his killer.
It's not strictly on the up-and-up, seeing as how I'm not an official city employee, which is why I'm stuck with a partner. Beau's a vampire cop who rubs me the wrong way and thinks he knows the best way to track down the murderer and close the case. For Joey's sake, though, I'll put up with his smug attitude and stupidly handsome face. At least until I find the animal who ripped my only friend's head off.
Then I'm done cooperating with the law.

I'm Sophia, a fire elemental and ex-bounty hunter. I burned down one measly building to stop a madman from committing vampire genocide and suddenly I'm not allowed to work for the city anymore. So now, on top of having to avoid my ex-partner and help my landlord run for office, I've gotta find a damn job.
As if that's not ridiculous enough, someone's accused me of murder. Unbelievable. I'm an upstanding citizen. Well, aside from my tendency to set fire to restaurants, laboratories, coffee shops—and, okay, one rich werewolf. I'm hot tempered, but I don't kill for fun. When I snuff out a life, it's always on the job, sanctioned by the Magistrate. The cops don't care. They just want to ward away my fire and lock me up. I'm going to have to flee flameless to the Underground to prove my innocence.
Even if it means burning bridges along the way.
